DFDS took over the popular ferry company Norfolkline in 2010 and now operates the Dover-Dunkirk route. DFDS links Dover to Dunkirk in 2 hours and Dover to Calais in 90 minutes.

Dover to France

DFDS operates 2 routes to France from Dover, sailing to Dunkirk and Calais in northern France. Both ports have quick and easy access to France’s motorway network. While Calais is a popular port, Dunkirk can save you time and miles if you are heading east to Holland, Belgium, Germany or eastern Europe. Onboard the ships on both routes, you’ll find excellent onboard facilities to entertain the whole family as they sail including restaurants, a café bar and shops. There are also play areas for children and TVs showing the latest news and sport. With up to 54 sailings a day between Dover and France, you are guaranteed to find a sailing that suits your travel plans. Crossings to Calais take 90 minutes and crossings to Dunkirk take just 2 hours.

Newcastle to Amsterdam

If you are heading to Europe from the north of England or Scotland, then DFDS’s route from Newcastle to Amsterdam is perfect for you. The port in IJmuiden is only 40 minutes from Amsterdam city centre and is less than 2 hours’ drive to Germany and Belgium or 3 hours to France. The crossing is overnight and there are excellent entertainment and leisure facilities to keep you busy including several bars, 4 restaurants, shops, play areas, children’s entertainer and even a cinema and casino. All bookings include an en suite cabin. There are daily overnight crossings from Newcastle to Amsterdam departing at 17.00 from Newcastle and 17.30 from Amsterdam. The DFDS ships on this route, King Seaways and Princess Seaways, have been recently refurbished so you can look forward to travelling in style.

Newhaven to Dieppe

DFDS also operate the ferry route between Newhaven and Dieppe, giving you easy access to Normandy, Brittany, and western France. There are 3 daily sailings in each direction during summer months and 2 daily sailings in each direction at other times. Each ferry crossing takes just 4 hours. Onboard the ferry you will find restaurants, a bar, children’s play area and a shop. There are also reclining seats so you can rest and sleep, or if you prefer you can upgrade to a cabin during the booking process.

The price you are quoted is for all passengers in your vehicle including the driver. If you have added a pet, this will also be included in the price.
Is a cabin included?
On overnight crossings, cabins are available to book.
Are meals included?
No. Meals, drinks and snacks can be purchased from the on-board cafés and restaurants. Services may vary according to the crossing booked.
Can my pet travel with DFDS?
